Research Interests / Study Design


This interest in research is to find out how much digitisation will influence work organisation and processes within health care. In addition to the related competence requirements and the orientation of occupations and activities, it looks at how employees can be trained for future tasks, and which technologies have the potential to get through.

In addition, country-specific trend statements should indicate where the individual countries are compared.

The mixture of methods from qualitative and quantitative expert surveys is to derive deductive hypotheses which are examined during the research process. This is done by operationalisation and the formation of measurable indicators.

The evaluation of the data is then carried out using statistical - by means of significance tests. Finally, the findings are related to the theoretical model. A research report "Digitisation Barometer Study" covers the possible development paths and future scenarios. The survey is not representative but exploratory, and is carried out in Germany, Hong Kong, Lithuania and the Netherlands.

Approximately 100 experts in each participating country were surveyed in the following areas:

  • Health insurance
  • Technology provider of digitisation products
  • Hospital
  • Care of elderly
  • Associations, interest groups, digitisation and health advice
